How To A Wear A Plaid Poncho

It’s great to have friends from whom you can borrow! My friend Diane owns this wonderful shawl poncho and allowed me to be photographed in it while we were in  the mountains.

I love the rich colors and the fact that it is a blanket shawl so there is plenty of material for warmth and for ease of wear.  Flimsier shawls seem to want to fall off my shoulders.  This one came from   The Willow Tree Boutique.

Black long sleeve tee is Gap.

Jeans are Democracy (yep, styling them again because I’m wearing them again 🙂 )

Boots are Madden’s, but several years old. Similar below.

Who’s with me?  A good cup of coffee is made even better in a fabulous cup!  It’s really kinda sad how excited I get when I find an animal print mug on clearance! I scored this one at Big Lots, on a clearance aisle for $2!  I did exercise restraint though because there was another one in leopard print!

Today, I’m styling a patterned cardigan with lace up boots.

The turquoise colored jewelry adds a extra pop of color against the sweater.

I wear my Steve Madden lace up boots very loosely tied because if I tighten them, my calves look huge!  We do what we have to do girls.

Layering with Plaid | Black Denim | Lace Up Boots

Plaid is the universal term used now but was derived from the word tartan; which has been around for thousands of years. (Credit

Plaid in the fashion world has had a major resurgence in recent years and remains one of it’s most beloved styles.

Only one of my plaids is new this year and this isn’t it. Luckily, this checked print can be found in most stores so linking similars wasn’t too hard.

It’s a little early for layering but we all know that cooler weather is on the horizon.  Black tank, plaid shirt, and cargo jacket give a nice layered look without adding too much bulk.  Layers can be removed when needed which is nice in our  Alabama climate; fall can be hot/cool/windy/rainy from one day to the next.

These boots do not go with many outfits I own but I like the edge it gives to this one.

I’m not a big jewelry girl so I like the fact that an outfit like this isn’t fussy.  I did add a small pendant necklace for color and small stud earrings.  Now, I’m ready for a hike…in style!
