Try On Session; Crown & Ivy at Belk

It’s Monday again.  It seems to roll around every week!  Just a few more days of school then off to the Caribbean for my annual girls’ trip.  Yay!!!

If you read my Time & Tru/Walmart post a couple of days ago, you know that it was an impromptu purchase day for me.  I went in to return an online order of lilac crop pants and ended up buying a fuschia knit dress, a cap and a cami!  I think my total was around $16!

Belk is practically next door so I popped in there and immediately saw that the Crown & Ivy Brand was 40% off.  If you aren’t familiar with this brand, think Draper James and Lily Pulitzer style; except at a lower price point.  Ruffles, gingham and eyelet are staples of these brands.  Feminine accents are all the rage now!

The Lilly Pulitzer Brand has been around for quite awhile (1959) but in case you haven’t heard about Draper James, it is a clothing line co-launched by Reese Witherspoon  in 2015.  The company name is in honor of her grandparents.

Love the color and style of this top.  I would have purchased it if I didn’t already have a similar one.  For size reference, I am 5’6″ and the pieces are mediums unless otherwise noted.

I feel the same about the white denim.  If I didn’t already have my Vince Camutos, I would definitely want this pair.  Nice stretch and fit (size 8R).

This gingham dress has sweet sleeve details.  I should have taken a side view but y’all!  Try-on sessions are tough!  I really like the length and fit of this one.  It is size small.

This navy dress has the same pretty ruffle neckline as the green top. I love a v-neck.  It is the most flattering neckline for me.

The color and pattern of this top is spot on but it’s a little boxy for me.  The high neck, smocking and crop style doesn’t flatter my body type.  It would look great on a smaller, more petite body.

I intentionally left the store with nothing, but these cutie jeans (size 6R) may be going in my online cart.  They have a girlfriend relaxed fit and the embroidered detail is adorable!  Granted they couldn’t be worn too often but that’s the beauty of C & I.  The pieces are not a great investment so buying is guilt free.  I’ve always been pleased with the quality of this brand.

Yep, these scream summer!

I’m not a flutter sleeve lover because of my wide shoulders but this top is really cute.  I love the baby blue and I think the split neck helps detract from the shoulder breadth.

The ruffle detail on this dress is very pretty and I like the black/white checks but the length doesn’t really work for me.  It’s almost too long for a shift dress and it feels a little frumpy.  It would look better with a wedge heel rather than flats. Couldn’t find this one online but similar here.

My favorite piece.  Probably because of the stripes!  The material is lightweight and the length hits my leg just right.  It’s the same dress as the navy above.  Similar here and here.

Nothing says summer better than a white eyelet top.  This is a medium and I needed a small but honestly I was so tired that I didn’t make the effort to go get one.  Lol

I love, love these shorts and had already spotted them online but I’m glad I tried them on before ordering because I never would have chosen a size 4!  You will have to size down for sure.  I am normally an 6/8.

This was fun but exhausting!  I said after the last try-on at Target I would not do this again without an assistant.  If I had stopped to think about beforehand, I probably would have waited. But, I’m glad I did it and I hope it helped you know this brand better!

Stay tuned for a Willow Tree try-on soon.  My cohort Kristin and I are planning to tag team there.  Fun!

Thank you for visiting today. I am also on Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook.

I would love to hear from you!
